Lecturer in Biblical and post-Biblical Hebrew, and Biblical Studies, University of Sydney
The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Arts offers the most comprehensive and distinguished Arts studies in the Asia Pacific. The Faculty’s Department of Hebrew, Biblical and Jewish Studies is experiencing rapid growth, and therefore is seeking to appoint an innovative and creative Lecturer in the fields of Biblical and post-Biblical Hebrew, and Biblical Studies.
The successful candidate will be qualified in Classical and/or Medieval Hebrew and Biblical Studies, and hold a complete or near complete PhD. Teaching expertise in rabbinical studies, post-Biblical Hebrew, Mishnah, and Talmudic studies is essential, as is a proven ability to teach in Biblical Studies and Classical Hebrew at all levels.
To succeed, applicants will be able to teach and supervise students at all levels, and have the capacity to coordinate and promote the Biblical Studies program. Applicants will need to be self-driven, have well-developed teamwork skills, and research potential that is demonstrated by publications and grants. Evidence of community involvement and experience teaching adult education will be highly advantageous.
